Dental Bridges

Losing a permanent tooth, whether it be due to dental decay, periodontal (gum) disease, injury or accident, can cause many serious problems for your neighboring teeth. Because the support and chewing forces are altered, the remaining teeth may begin to shift. The opposing tooth above or below the lost tooth can begin to move up or down and out of position, which can accelerate gum disease and further break down the bone structure. If the missing tooth is not replaced, more teeth may eventually be lost due to the improper forces exerted during chewing

A bridge is a permanent option to replace missing teeth. It is a custom prosthetic anchored to neighboring teeth that replaces one or more missing permanent teeth. Bridges and crowns are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented onto carefully prepared existing teeth or implants called abutments. The abutments need to be in healthy condition and carefully prepared to serve as anchors to hold the prosthetic in place. A replacement tooth, called a pontic, is attached to the crowns that cover the abutment.

As with crowns, you have a choice of materials for bridges. Your dentist can help you decide which is best for you, based on the location of the missing tooth (or teeth), its function, aesthetic considerations and cost.

Crown and Bridge Treatment will restore lost teeth and function, support remaining teeth from shifting/tilting and tooth loss, restores your smile, matches the color and appearance of your natural teeth, maintains the shape of your face and restores ability to chew and speak properly.
