If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures replace all your missing teeth and enhance your smile and function. When you are missing some teeth, partial dentures are used to fill in the gaps and maintain the position of your existing teeth. Partial dentures and complete dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth and can be taken in and out of your mouth. While dentures take some getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as natural teeth, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever.

Replacing missing teeth will help to improve your appearance and smile. Without support from natural teeth or a denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. More importantly dentures will help you eat and speak more comfortably, things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are lost. Even if you wear full dentures or partial dentures, you still must take good care of your mouth. Brush your gums, tongue and palate every morning with a soft-bristled brush before you insert your dentures to stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove plaque.

Over time, your denture will need to be relined, remade or rebased as a result of normal wear. As you age, your mouth naturally changes shape. These changes cause your dentures to loosen, making chewing difficult and irritating your gums. At a minimum, you should see your dentist annually for a checkup.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are attached to the existing teeth in your mouth to fill in gaps where other teeth are missing. Partial dentures help maintain the appearance of a healthy smile while also keeping the remaining teeth in their proper alignment. They allow you to eat and speak comfortably.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Dentures are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and can enhance your smile. Dentures are very durable and last many years but sometimes have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.
